Other Ways To Help Us
Individuals:
- Coordinate a food drive at your congregation, child’s school, workplace, or with your social or community group
- Volunteer to pick up donated food barrels and deliver to the Food Pantry
- Coordinate a weekly or monthly food drive at your workplace, school or congregation focusing on a single food item.
- Coordinate a food and/or cash drive in your neighborhood or subdivision
- Coordinate a collection of personal care items
- Free Will Offering - forfeit your holiday party and give the proceeds to The Food Pantry
- Grocery Store Gift Card - Collect a grocery store gift card from every couple in your circle of friends and donate it to The Pantry. The cards will be used to purchase much-needed items.
- Honorariums/Memorials - Recognize the ones you love by sending a gift in their name (birthdays, graduations, weddings, anniversaries, job promotions, bar/bat mitzvah, confirmations, etc.) for the purchase of food. The Food Pantry will send a letter to whomever you’d want to acknowledge your gift in their name.
- Make the Food Pantry a beneficiary in your will
- Forfeit your gift exchange and re-direct the funds to donations to The Food Pantry.
- Turn any special occasion gathering into a food drive by asking guests to bring non-perishable food items.
- Donate food at your local grocery store.
Corporations:
- Promote payroll-deduction contributions
- Make a financial contribution. Challenge employees to raise the same amount through bake sales, car washes and competitions
- Sponsor an event at your company, for example:
- Dress-down days with participants making a monetary or food donation (jeans, packer gear, Hawaiian shirts, etc.)
- Food of the Month drives (January - Peanut Butter, February - Tuna, etc.)
- Provide matching funds to individual employee’s financial donations
- Donate in-kind gifts to decrease our operating costs (e.g., printing or copying services, etc.)
- Distribute plastic or paper bags on Monday for employee/co-workers to take home, fill & return by Friday.
- Collect Spare Change. Place a container for spare change in the cafeteria or front office to collect coins and bills.
Schools:
- Create competitions between classrooms to raise the most food or funds. Have fun. Be creative. Will the winning team get to toss cream pies at the Principal?
- Penny Wars - Find large glass jars and have a race to fill up the jars with pennies. Great idea for even young ones to get involved.
